The way we interact with computers is changing and in the very near future we can expect our computers and electronic devices to become much better at understanding what we tell them to do, literally. In this example, I used the annyang js library (with slight mods) to integrate voice command activation for Tableau dashboard. The annyang api leverages google voice recognition and currently works with google chrome, but we can expect similar offerings and multi-platform support for this type of functionality from Apple, Microsoft and the rest of the computer industry leaders in the next few years, to allow developers to fully integrate voice activation in their software in a seamless fashion.
